Vacuous but entertaining
The interviewer is amusingly vacuous, and there is very little of substance to the interview - the band come across as rather young and naive too. There are a few tidbits of interesting information though, such as the origin of the first LP's name, and the recordings of the three tracks are crystal clear.
Notes
An early Low performance that hasn't been circulated much, this half-hour set was recorded live in the studio for KJHK-FM in Lawrence, KS, and features John Nichols on bass. Three songs from "I Could Live in Hope" are performed, but the real draw here is the interview material, which is at times completely hilarious: take an earnest young DJ, match him up against dry Minnesota wit, and...well, you can listen to what unfolds.
("A band such as you, you're pretty low-key, right?")
Transferred from a 1st gen cassette. No processing has been used on this tape -- not even normalization. The peak level on this recording is about -4.8 dB, so 3-4 dB of gain can be applied when burning to CD.
("Did you ever go to Camp Sunshine?")
And for the man who originally taped this broadcast: thanks, Mr. Bigboote, wherever you are!
